Setup your CloudHost Cpanel Email on Outlook on MAC

Outlook for Mac 2011 webmail setup

Outlook works well with the IMAP mail server which is included with your cPanel account.

We recommend an IMAP Account if you routinely access your mail with more than one computer, or if you think you may be adding a Personal Digital Assistant or Smart Phone.

Setting Up Outlook with IMAP on Mac

The example below is based on MS Office 2011 on MacOS. In our opinion Outlook on the Mac is the easiest all around Email program to setup.

Choose the Tools > Accounts item from the main menu to reveal Email accounts. To add a new Email Account, choose the Email Account Icon from the body of this window.

Add an Account

Add New Account Details

Outlook requests details. Enter your Email Address, the window expands to provide space to enter User Name, Incoming Server and Outgoing Server. Your User Name will be the same as your Email Address. Make sure that your caps lock key is off before typing your password.

Enter the Incoming and Outgoing server that you have been given. Note the status of checkboxes and port numbers below and match these.

Choose Add Account. If your information is correct, Outlook will provide a summary window.

Add New Account Continued

The Accounts page shows a summary of the settings for the new account.

The Account description has been manually updated to read Personal Account. Choose your own descriptive title for your account.

The yellow disc to the left of the Account Name indicates that the account is still off line. If you are connected to the Internet, and your entries were correct, the yellow disk will turn to green.

If there is a problem, you will receive pop-up requests for corrected information, as shown below. One of the most common mistakes is to enter one’s own name in the User Name blank. Your Email Addressis the same as your User Name in Email context.

When you have provided correct information, the repeated prompts for user info will stop.

More Settings and Optimization

Choose More Options near the bottom of the Accounts window.

Accounts

A drop down menu provides a means to specify more authentication information for your outgoing server. Change the Authentication to Use Incoming Server Info as below. Incoming and outgoing authentication details are always the same at WebValence.

Choose OK to return to the Accounts window.

Outgoing server setting

Choose Advanced… to reveal an additional three-tab window. On the Server tab, consider slowing down the IMAP Sync to once every five minutes. Be sure to enter INBOX in the IMAP Root Folder.

Advanced server settings

On the Folders tab, we recommend the following settings. This helps synchonize Webmail with your Email program. We also recommend setting the Trash for automatical deletion after one week!

Advanced folders settings

On the advanced Security tab. We recommend no changes.

Completion

You should now get a successful test completion. Unfortunately this will not always happen. If your effort fails, recheck your settings and try again. If it fails twice, give up and call support.

Completion

You’re done! Choose the Close button to save your new Email account. Click Finish to close the Congratulations window.
