In this article, we will discuss the cPanel Image Manager and how it is used.<\/p>\n

The Image Manager\u00a0is just one of the tools in the cPanel at your disposal. It allows you to edit and modify images in your account. You can convert their file type, change their size or just view them.<\/p>\n

Now, how do we go about it? Once you log into your cPanel account, go to the Advanced Heading<\/strong>. There, you will see the Image Manager<\/strong>\u00a0icon.<\/p>\n

When it opens, you will see the list of Image Tools:<\/p>\n

Thumbnail Converter<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This will help create smaller versions of the images already on your website thereby saving bandwidth. It should however be noted that this feature can only be applied to a whole directory and not an individual image.<\/p>\n

To convert a directory of images to thumbnails<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Click on the\u00a0Thumbnail converter<\/strong> link.<\/li>\n
  2. Navigate to the directory you would like to convert to thumbnails by clicking on the blue folder\u00a0icon. Be sure not to click on the name\u00a0as this shows the properties of the directory instead.<\/li>\n
  3. Now, click on the name<\/strong> of the folder not the folder icon this time around.<\/li>\n
  4. The page will load as shown below:\"creatingthumbnails\"<\/a>With the Scale Percent box, you can specify how small the images should be. We recommend that you keep the Keep Aspect Ratio box checked to keep the height and width proportional. If you want to return to the default scale percent value, click on Reset Dimensions.<\/li>\n
  5. You can now click on the Thumbnail Images button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After the images have been resized, a thumbnail directory will be created within the selected folder with the prefix tn_*. The * represents the filename and extension. Click the “Your images have been thumbnailed into” link to open the thumbnail directory in the file manager.<\/p>\n

    Image Scaler<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    This will help resize your images to your desired size, large or small. It is also used for individual images unlike the thumbnail converter.<\/p>\n

    To rescale your images<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Click on the Image Scaler<\/span><\/strong> link.<\/li>\n
    2. Navigate to the directory that contains the image(s) you want to rescale.<\/li>\n
    3. Click on the name<\/strong> of the image.<\/li>\n
    4. You will be directed to the Image Scaler tool\u00a0\"go4hosting-cpanel-image-scaler-bug-06\"<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0The New Dimension box is used to define, in pixels, how the image should be resized and the Percent box is used to define the percentage by which the image should be resized. You may click on the Dimension box to return to the default values. We also recommend here that you check the Keep Aspect Ratio box to keep the height and the width of the image proportional. \u00a0You may also click the “Retain a copy of the old image as” checkbox to store a copy of the original image. Specify\u00a0the directory in the field below.<\/li>\n
    5. Then click on the Scale Image button.<\/li>\n
    6. You can now click on the “Your image” link to view the rescaled image.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Convert to an Image Format<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      The image manager converter allows you to change the file format of any image currently residing on your site. For example, you can change a .jpg file to a .bmp file.<\/p>\n

      To an image format<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Click on the\u00a0Convert to an Image Format<\/strong>\u00a0link.<\/li>\n
      2. Navigate to the directory containing the folder of images you wish to convert.<\/li>\n
      3. Click on the\u00a0name of the file\/folder to be converted.<\/li>\n
      4. This will be displayed\u00a0\"download\"<\/a>\u00a0From the drop down menu, select the new file format you wish to convert your images to. You may select\u00a0png, jpeg(jpg), gif or bmp.<\/li>\n
      5. Then click on Convert<\/strong>. Once converted, the files will be placed in the same directory as the original.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
