This article describes how to secure your user’s username and passwords from the public using Leech Protection tool in cPanel. Leeching is a practice where unauthorized visitors can maliciously access your user’s login credentials (Username, passwords,…) and use it to access secure areas of your website.

cPanel gives you the capability to protect your website against leeching by limiting the number of times that a user (authorized or unauthorized) can access a secure area of your website within a two-hour period. For Instance, as an admin, you can limit users access to a secure area of your website within two hours to only three(3) attempts which if the limit is exceeded, you can redirect them to another URL, send an alert e-mail, or even disable their account.

  • First, you have to select a folder to protect.
